The following report was requested as part of the Business Degree at UWS, the report request comes from the module of business research skills. The first part of this report will focus on the role of effective qualitative research methods and approaches. This will include the features of data, design and analysis, it will also discuss the strengths and limitations of qualitative research. The report will then look at how to apply a qualitative analysis technique in relation to the provided transcript of an interview, the interview is between an interviewer and an academic who is based at UWS. This final part†¦show more content†¦The most qualitative research involves a number of characteristics Gray (2014): It is conducted through intense contact with a ‘field’ or real life. The researcher’s role is to gain a ‘holistic’ or integrated overview of the study, including the perceptions of participants. Themes that emerge from the data are often reviewed with the informants for verification. The main focus of the research is to understand the ways in which people act and account for their actions. An Effective research design is the methodology and procedure that a researcher follows, remembering that in qualitative research the methods must be flexible. Each method that a qualitative researcher follows has a way of data collection, has a research design and has a way to analyse the data. Research design defines the study type, research question, hypothesis, variables and data collection methods. the key features of each method are dependent upon the approaches used, by the researcher.
